Suspected Islamic terrorists kill 1 Buddhist & 4 others in Southern Thailand - Over 4400 dead and over 7700 wounded in over 10,000 attacks since 2004

In Narathiwat province, a Buddhist worker at a local irrigation office was shot and killed at his home.1

Four others were also killed and two injured in other attacks in Thailand's deep south blamed on Islamic separatist Insurgents. Two of the dead and one of the injured are known to be Muslims.1

Over a week ago, three Muslim men - a religious teacher and two politicians - were also killed.2

Reuters reported then that
The rubber-rich provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat were part of a Muslim sultanate annexed a century ago by predominantly Buddhist Thailand. About 80 percent of the people in the poor region are Muslim and speak a Malay dialect.2

The violence has ranged from drive-by shootings to bombings and beheadings. The targets are often Buddhists and Muslims associated with the Thai state, such as police, soldiers, government officials and teachers.2
AFP said that
many Muslims who are considered "traitors" to Islam for cooperating with Thai authorities have been killed.1
According to Non-governmental organisation Deep South Watch, over 4400 have died and over 7700 wounded in over 10,000 attacks there since January 2004 when violence broke out.1

Comment: No Christians, Whites or Westerners involved here, so can't use race-card or blame it on Westerners or Christian 'crusaders' as they usually do for this one.

Although the Islamists might use the victim-card here, it should be seen in the global context of Islamic violence which occurs regardless of whatever local excuses they may use.
