Al-Qaeda in North Africa (AQIM), shopping for weapons with kidnap ransom money

 Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), active in the Saharah desert of Algeria, Mali, Niger and Mauritania, are said to be shopping for weapons with ransom money from kidnappings.
