Nine men charged with conspiracy to bomb high-profile London targets in the run-up to Christmas have been remanded in custody after appearing in court.

Mohammed Moksudur Rahman Chowdhury, 20, of Stanliff House, Tower Hamlets, and Shah Mohammed Lutfar Rahman, 28, of St Bernard's Road, Newham, have been remanded in custody until 14 January.

Gurukanth Desai, 28, of Albert Street; Omar Sharif Latif, 26, of Neville Street, and Abdul Malik Miah, 24, of Ninian Park Road, all from Cardiff, have to appear at the Old Bailey on the same date.

Nazam Hussain, 25, of Grove Street; Usman Khan, 19, of Persia Walk; Mohibur Rahman, 26, of North Road, and Abul Bosher Mohammed Shahjahan, 26, of Burmarsh Walk, all from Stoke-on-Trent, were also remanded in custody.

Among the potential targets of Christmas attack were the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, the Stock Exchange and London's Mayor, Boris Johnson, it was claimed.

The court was told that targets for bombings had been agreed by the suspects before the police raids. The suspects had also conducted live tests on explosives.

A dozen men were arrested last week in London, Cardiff and Stoke-on-Trent in central England. … Three were released without charge.

The decision to charge them was announced early yesterday, with police saying that the conspiracy started on October 1 and continued until December 20, the day of the arrests.

The men are also accused of preparing for acts of terrorism, downloading and researching materials and methods for acts of terrorism, and carrying out reconnaissance missions and testing incendiary material.

Big Ben was allegedly visited, while the Palace of Westminster was among other key landmarks said to have received their attention. The Church of Scientology headquarters in London was also ‘observed’, it was claimed.

They moved on to look at the Church of Scientology building on Queen Victoria Street near Blackfriars, before visiting a branch of McDonald’s.

After the arrests on December 20, searches at one of the addresses uncovered a handwritten note containing the contact details of six individuals, Mr Arnold said.

It had the full addresses of the Dean of St Paul’s and the Chapter House, two rabbis and their synagogues, the U.S. Embassy, London Stock Exchange and the work address of Boris Johnson [mayor of London].

Iranian Nazi site IranNazi.Ir unblocked by Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic guidance after a brief ban

 The 'pro-Nazi and anti-Jewish website'¹ calling itself “Historical Research Society for World War Two and the Third Reich”²  explained the temporary block saying that

"And because Jews have always used their power and influence for their advantage, we were not an exception (to this) and only after 17 days we became the target of these creatures and we faced this problem because of Jews' personal complaints."²

 Reuters said that in Iran the government has 'strict controls on the Internet blocking many sites deemed undesirable.'²

 Al-Arabia also said that

While it blocks around five million political, cultural, religious, and “indecent” websites, the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance permitted the operation of a website called irannazi.ir¹

 This has lead to objections from both 'pro-government website Tabnak and the pro-reformist Rooz Online.'¹

 According to Reuters, the site does not appear to be linked to the Iranian state,² but Rooz Online has accused deputy minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Muhammad Ali Ramin of being behind lifting of the ban.¹

 Ramin is a known supporter of Nazi ideas and had neo-Nazi connections when he lived in Europe. Iranian journalist Mohammad Reza Yazdanpanah argues that he is a major force behind President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's holocaust denial.¹

 Arab-Iranian activist Kawthar Ali warned that 'Nazi principles and the prevalence of anti-Semitic trends in Iran' endanger not only the Jews but other minorities such as the Arabs who also are Semites.¹

 Al Arabya reports, 

Ali pointed out that the Iranian government uses such extremist trends to serve its interests and to propagate nationalist ideologies that assert the superiority of Persians.¹

Ali cited the example of communists who originally called for social justice but are now adopting extremist nationalist ideas.¹

“For example Heshmat Raeisi, one of the most prominent labor movement leaders, is now advocating Persian nationalism in a country that houses a variety of ethnicities.”¹

Comment: Note the racism of some Persian supremacists against Jews (Arabs and who else?), the neo-Nazi link to Iran and 'social justice' Communists turning into extreme nationalists.

 See if there is a link or similarities between the racism here and the recent story of Arab Saudi school textbooks in the UK asking students to list the “reprehensible” qualities of the Jews and teaching them that they want to gain resources and control the world, while reminding that some of them were turned into pigs and apes.

 See if there is a link or similarities between 'social justice' (victim-card) Communists turning into extreme (racist?) nationalists here and Iran's left-wing allies like Bolivian President Evo Morales and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

 The website itself is not a problem. It and the other around five million websites should not be banned. This is not to condone racism, but everyone should be free to question anything they like, be it Islam, race or the Holocaust. There is no place for blasphemy laws, both religious (Asia Bibi death sentence and the possible life sentence for Walid Husayin) and non-religious PC censorship (Charges against Geert Wilders), and 'cyber-stalking' thought police.

 An investigation by BBC's 'Panorama' program has found that around 5,000 school children in around 40 schools across the U.K. are being taught from textbooks with Islamic extremist content.³

 Some of these texts used during part-time weekend schools⁴ when Muslim children are taught Saudi national curriculum² teaches that

some Jews were transformed into pigs and apes⁵   

the "main goal" of the Jews is to "have control over the world and its resources."¹

asks children to list the "reprehensible" qualities of Jewish people²

describes the punishment for gay sex as death and states a difference of opinion about whether it should be carried out by stoning, burning with fire or throwing the person over a cliff.²

advises: "For thieves their hands will be cut off for a first offence, and their foot for a subsequent offence."¹

The specified punishment of the thief is cutting off his right hand at the wrist.¹

including detailed diagrams about how hands and feet of thieves are amputated.²

 The schools are part of the "Saudi Students Clubs and Schools in the UK and Ireland" organization¹ but the Saudi government denies endorsing or having ties to it.²

 The director of the clubs and schools network however said that it was under the control the Saudi Cultural Bureau, which is part of the Saudi embassy.²

 Asked by the BBC about the findings of the Panorama program contained in a documentary titled “British Schools Muslim Rules,”⁴ the Saudi embassy said

such materials were often taken out of context and often referred to historical descriptions.²

 Three years ago, the BBC also found extremist text books that refers to Christians and Jews in derogatory terms at a West London school funded by the Saudis. That discovery led to a Saudi promise then to remove those books.²

 Dr Usama Hasan, an Islamic scholar and part-time imam in east London, warned that lack of interaction between and non-Muslims means “ingredients of the western world” are not learnt by young Muslims²

“so it's very easy for them to read the medieval texts which were written at a time when Islam was under attack and say non-believers are our enemies and we have to fight them."²

Comment: Note the “out of context” argument from the Saudi embassy, and “Islam was under attack” argument from Hasan.  

 The case for amputations seems fairly clear as stated in the Koran 5:38, "As for the thief, both male and female, cut off their hands. ... Allah is Mighty, Wise."  Hard to see how it could possibly be "out of context."

 As for Jews being turned into pigs and apes, it seems to be based on the Koran 5:59-60

5:59 Say: "O people of the Book! Do ye disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah, and the revelation that hath come to us and that which came before (us), and (perhaps) that most of you are rebellious and disobedient?" 

5:60 Say: "Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from Allah? those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!" 

 The verses here are do not appear as clear as that for chopping off the hands but still, and this is something to remember, there is a credible basis in the Koran for such an interpretation. It is not something that's created out of thin air. There is at least some basis for such interpretations, if not more or a lot.

 And in the case of "Islam was under attack" or 'Defensive' jihad argument, it seems quite clear that not all of Muhammad's wars could possibly have been defensive. Did he really need to conquer the Arabian peninsula? And why did his immediate successors, who must have known first hand what Muhammad meant about jihad, invade the lands of Christians and Pagans - something which continued throughout history and only stopping when Muslims were weak?

 Also try to see if there might be any link between children being taught such violent materials and the violence inflicted on the foreign maids in Saudi Arabia, such as the recent case of Kikim and Sumiati that was posted here only hours ago.

 Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has claimed responsibility for the recent foiled airmail parcel bomb plot and the crash of a UPS plane in Dubai on September 3. They accuse the Saudis of "collaboration with the Jews" for thwarting their latest plot involving parcel bombs airmailed to Jewish synagogues in Chicago.

Two Yemeni airfreight parcel bombs intercepted en route to Chicago synagogues, one of them for gay Jews

 The bombs sent from Yemen were intercepted on a UPS cargo plane in England,³ and at a Fedex facility in Dubai,³ after a Saudi tipoff.⁴

 Although the bombs were sent to Chicago synagogues,³ one which was Or Chadash that serves gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Jew,¹ British Prime Minister David Cameron said the bomb found in England was designed to explode on the plane.³

 Around 60 per cent of US bound cargo is flown in on passenger planes, meaning the bombs, which were powerful enough to bring down a plane, could easily have brought down one of them.³

 Al-Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula is suspected of being behind the plot since PETN explosives, used by them in the past, such in Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab's failed under wear bomb,² was also used this time in one of the bombs, placed inside a computer² printer's ink tonger cartridge.⁴

 Hanan Al-Samawi,² a fifth-year Engineering student at Sanaa University, in the Yemeni capital, has been arrested under suspicion⁵ of mailing the packages. Her mother, Amatulillah Mohammed, has been detained along with her.²

Israeli cabinet approves requiring new citizens to swear allegiance to Jewish and democratic state

 The Israeli cabinet has approved a plan to require non-Jewish citizens to swear pledge of allegiance to the country as a "Jewish and democratic state". It will become law once approved by parliament.
