Saudi prince Saud Abdulaziz Bin Nasir Al Saud is on trial in London for physical abuse, sexual abuse and murder of his alleged homosexual partner.1 Regarding the issue of sexual repression, violence and homosexuality in Muslim countries, Carol Hunt wrote the following in Sunday Independent.
""In Dr Nancy Kobrin's book, The Sheik's New Clothes: The Psychoanalytic Roots of Islamic Suicide Terrorism, barbarous family and clan dynamics are described in which "children, both boys and girls, are routinely orally and anally raped by male relatives; infant males are sometimes sadistically over-stimulated by being masturbated; boys between the ages of seven and 12 are publicly and traumatically circumcised; many girls are clitoridectomised; and women are seen as the source of all shame and dishonour and treated accordingly"."2
"Consequently having sex with boys, or effeminate men, is seen as a social norm in strict Islamic cultures. Paradoxically, homosexuality is banned, on pain of death, yet men penetrating subordinate men or children becomes a manifestation of male power."2
Carol Hunt also criticized in the article those who label people speaking out against such issues as "racist, Islamophobic or sectarian".
