Sudanese soldiers shoot in Abyei, attempting to provoke war to stop Southern Independence

Four Sudanese soldiers went on a random shooting spree in Abyei city market, Souther Sudan, wounding a trader, in order to provoke a clash to use as pretext for war. The shooting stopped due to UN intervention. The incident is an attempt by the Muslim north to stop a January referendum to decide Southern Independence and whether Abyei should be part of the north or south.
